Brethren,

Announcement: Our next (online) Unstated Meeting will be on Saturday, July 6th at 10 AM Eastern Time. See details below. Here is our latest installment of research papers from Virginia Research Lodge No. 1777. If you would like to be added to the list, or have a friend who would like to be on the list, just send me an email or message. This week’s submission is from Rt. Wor. Jerry M. Walters, Jr., entitled “Who Made Your Square?” which was presented to Virginia Research Royal Arch Chapter No. 1753 on April 30, 2005.

In this short but well-written paper, the author tells us of the importance of the tools that we use in Operative Masonry, and relates it to how we need to find better tools to improve ourselves in Speculative Masonry: Finding a quality square, or role model, on how to improve ourselves; and then how to be a better quality square for others to look up to.

If you enjoy these weekly papers, I highly recommend attending one of Virginia’s premier Research Lodges. Hearing a paper presented in person by the author, with the discussion afterwards, is a far superior experience to simply reading it for yourself. Also, there are papers presented in a Research Lodge that will never be made available online.
