Good morning Brethren.

Did you know ???

As we continue to cope
with this COVID-19 pandemic
and all its variants

with all Masonic meetings
slowly re-opening
in the Peterborough District,

this month’s Peterborough District’s electronic
Beacon: Lighting the Way !!!

provides you with:

an April Masonic poem
by R.W. Bro. Bob Keay,
Peterborough DDGM 2014 – 2015,
entitled “Against the Backdrop
of the Pandemic

and a lot of Masonic Education

including a feature article by
R.W. Bro. Robert Kliaman,
Canada Lodge No. 532, Toronto East District,
presenting:
a “Masonic Quiz 3 – Test Your Knowledge
(Common Knowledge at the EA Level)
on pages 62 to 67.

The Grand Master and Grand Secretary announced on 21 March 2022:
On March 21, the provincial government will lift
virtually all COVID-19 regulations for meeting and event spaces.

The wearing of masks will no longer be required;
however individual facilities may elect to continue to require it.
Screening, signage, and safety plans are also no longer required.
However all other local, provincial and federal regulations
must be followed as well as any advice, recommendations
and instructions from provincial or local Medical Officers of Health.

The following items specific to lodges will continue
in place until July 2022:

Lodges may decide whether or not to hold in-person meetings.
If not, the previously stated pandemic adaptations will continue.
Lodges do not have to do degrees or official visits
at this time if they choose not to.
Lodges may choose when they will accept visitors.

Cleaning and disinfecting procedures should follow any advice
issued by Public Health Authorities.
Brethren not wishing to return to in-person gatherings yet:
There are brethren who, after doing a personal
or family risk assessment, will not want to attend
an in-person gathering at the moment.
No pressure should be put on anyone, officer or member,
to override their own assessment.

Stay safe, keep well,
and remember to contact
your friends and family often
to ensure that they too continue
to stay safe
during this on-going pandemic.

With the month-plus long attacks on Ukraine,
the Editor of the Beacon: Lighting the Way !!!
joins with the rest of the world in wishing
the people of that country all the best.
To quote from the Peterborough D.D.G.M.,
R.W. Bro. Drew Wilson, in his April 2022 message,
Who knew our times could be so mean;
global plague and another senseless war in the 21st century?

That one man’s selfish ambition could have
such a devastating impact on so many lives.
While the cause of the pandemic is elusive,
the seeds of war in Ukraine are not:
naked aggression, blind lust, greed, driven by raw ego,
borne of utterly selfish intolerance and indifference.
Certainly not Masonic values.

Narcissistic despots never change.
Their motivation and methods are always the same.
We all should’ve seen this one coming.
We just couldn’t believe it would.
May God bless those, on all sides, who are suffering.

Enclosed is the April 2022 issue of the
Peterborough District’s electronic
Beacon: Lighting the Way !!!

I trust that you will enjoy
reading this month’s issue
and I highly recommend
that you forward it on to others
who too will enjoy reading its contents.

A big thank-you to
R.W. Bro. Robert Kliaman,
Treasurer of Canada Lodge A.F. & A.M. No. 532 G.R.C.,
Toronto East District,
and to
W. Bro. Tim Lucas,
Secretary of Keene Lodge A.F. & A.M. No. 374 G.R.C., Peterborough District,
for their tremendous assistance in helping me
with putting together each month’s issue of the
Peterborough District’s electronic Beacon: Lighting the Way !!!
using Mail Chimp,
as well as to
Bro. Danny McLaughlin,
Corinthian Lodge A.F. & A.M. No. 101 G.R.C.,
for continuing as the District Photographer / Visual Archivist
for the Beacon this year !!!

A reminder that when you open this issue of the Beacon: Lighting the Way !!! and want to save it into your hard drive, at the top right corner of the view, there are three buttons, left to right: rotate, download, and print. The middle button, the download button icon, is a downward pointing arrow with a bar underneath it. Click on it and download the Beacon: Lighting the Way !!! into your computer. It will ask you where to place it, usually in the documents folder. Your naming of the file is important for those who want to reference the work later. Your current naming needs to include the phrase Beacon: Lighting the Way !!! in it. Then you can find these and they will group together in the folder. I suggest the word Beacon at the beginning of the label, then the date, and then the rest of your label. This will group the files together for easy recall on a person’s hard drive.
– adapted from W. Bro. Tim Lucas.

Sincerely and fraternally yours,

Bob McBride
