Here is our latest installment of research papers from Virginia Research Lodge No. 1777. If you would like to be added to the list, or have a friend who would like to be on the list, just send me an email or message. This week’s submission is from Wor. Daniel J. Thompson, entitled “Athelstan, First King of All England” which was presented to Virginia Research Lodge No. 1777 on September 27, 2003.

King Athelstan begins the Constitution of Masonry as adopted by the Grand Lodge of Virginia in 1791. This paper will discuss the historical Athelstan, his lasting influence on English history and explore his legendary ties to the Masonic fraternity.

Hearing a paper presented in person by the author, with the discussion afterwards, is a far superior experience to simply reading it for yourself.
